The UQ School of Journalism and Communication intends to be the first in Australia to provide an opportunity for its students to produce online, long-form story-telling multimedia titles using cutting edge technology and training.
The concept of bringing various media together in a project is not new, however some recent examples of Rich Media Articles published online have gained attention for creating exceptional user experiences that work across multiple platforms.
This Innovation Project seeks to provide students of journalism and other humanities with the tools and training to create rich multimedia experiences that connect with an online audience.

The project seeks to use cutting edge software and engage industry experts to enable students involved in the established and successful ‘The Change Makers Project’ to enhance their experience by designing and creating a flagship online multimedia title. This pioneering project would be used to inspire other students to create their own innovative projects.
The project further seeks to examine open source tools and produce a comparison of options as well as training materials that will be available online. It is envisioned that these will be incorporated into the curriculum in any program where a multimedia rich online user experience could be an outcome.
