An Apology to Mother Nature
We Are Sorry
Music can often serve as a bridge between emotions and words; therefore, this song is created to allow us as individuals to reflect on our actions. The melody of “Say Something” by A Great Big World is utilised, as I play the music on piano while singing with original lyrics.
The intention behind the piece it to get us thinking about why we do the things we do, and the way in which it harms the world around us. We all believe that one wrong action we do won’t harm the planet, but what if all 7.7 billion of us thought that way? Life as we know it is collapsing, and we have no one to blame but ourselves.
Why do we participate in the purchasing of fast fashion instead of simply supporting sustainable brands?
Why do we choose to leave the lights on in every room?
Why do we buy plastic bottles when we can bring a bottle from home?
Why do we cut down trees in order to build a new parking lot?
A positive change is still a change for the better. Mother nature gives us life and love, and it’s finally time to return the favour. Let’s come together to apologise, and show mother nature we’re willing to fix our mistakes.
