3MT is a research communication competition developed by UQ. The exercise develops academic, presentation, and research communication skills and supports the development of research students’ capacity to effectively explain their research in three minutes in a language appropriate to an intelligent but non-specialist audience.

The 3MT is held each year during September and October. The UQ 3MT Competition will be held on Tuesday 18 September, and, this year UQ also has the honour of hosting the 2012 Trans-Tasman 3MT Competition. The Trans-Tasman Semi-Final is open to a live audience so register your attendance now.

UQ PhD student Matthew Thompson won the 2011 Trans-Tasman 3MT competition.
