UQ Brisbane Women’s Premier League (BWPL) Reserves vs Taringa Rovers
The University of Queensland Brisbane Women’s Premier League (BWPL) Reserves hosted the Taringa Rovers in the sixth round of the Women’s Premier League season this Saturday. Emma Szczotko opened the scoring in the 6th minute, tapping the ball in from close range off a low cross from Patrice Taylor. The students had a number of chances throughout the first half however were unable to convert. Taringa’s keeper, Savannah Boller kept the Rovers in the match as the first half ended 1-0.
It was a slow start to the second half as the rain made conditions difficult. UQ once again had the majority of possession allowing them to break through Taringa’s back line, but they were still struggling to find the back of the net. Uni’s persistence in attack finally payed off with Taylor doubling the Students’ lead in the 55th minute. From then UQ kept the pressure on as Nicole Cloutier added her name to the score sheet in the 67th minute, and Taylor got her second in the 77th to cap off UQ’s dominant performance.
The 4-0 win sees UQ at 3rd on the ladder, with an away game against Robina next Sunday.
